Blurb:

Ever since we found the two Outcasts, it's been my goal to get them to join our beach tribe. Handsome, impossible Juth has resisted all my efforts to recruit him and his small son. He's made it very clear that he doesn't belong with us.

But when I'm trapped at Juth's side as the beach is invaded by monsters, everything changes. He talks to me instead of pointedly ignoring me. We become friends. Heck, we even share a few stolen kisses. And when the rescue party arrives, he announces to everyone that I'm his mate and he's joining the tribe.

Which is great except . . . I never agreed to anything? If I point out I'm not Juth's mate, he'll pack up and leave with his son. He sure won't give me more of those toe-curling kisses or touch me like it's the greatest thing that's ever happened to him.

So . . . I guess I'm mated? Because I'm not sure I can give any of that—or Juth—up.

My Review:

4 stars — Oh yeah, this was what I was looking for.  I was feeling a bit book slumpish, so I was so excited when the audio came out for this one and I pounced on it.  This series always gives me what I’m looking for.  Obviously I love some stories more than others, some couples more than others, but in general it’s just easy to listen to and enjoy.

Steph was kind, thoughtful, and I appreciated that she had a fairly good grip on her need to help people.  I wouldn’t have minded a better peek at her past, it was always hinted at something with her parents, but never fully explained…and I’m greedy like that.  But it was pretty easy to both like her, and understand her flaws.

Juth had really had a raw hand dealt to him at birth, and he’d absorbed the lessons of the outcast clan to his core.  I appreciated how hard he tried to let that go for Steph, and to give Pak a better life.  He definitely had his ups and downs, but it played out as I expected.

Steph and Juth definitely had a great connection, and I enjoyed seeing them explore getting closer…even before they understood one another.

Pak freaking stole the whole book though.  It wasn’t that he took over, not at all, but he was so adorable you couldn’t help but fall in love with him.  It was infectious.

Now I’m super curious about Sam, and I will admit I’m not as excited about Daisy though she had a few good moments that saved her from my full annoyance.
