Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn't afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn't so amused. Now Alex has a choice: fix his public image through community service or ride the bench. But Alex refuses to be molded into the Carolina Cold Fury poster boy . . . not even by a tempting redhead with killer curves.

As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people--like Alex, who's been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team's effort to clean up his image. What she doesn't expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. But Sutton isn't one to cross professional boundaries--and besides, Alex doesn't do relationships . . . or does he? The more she sees behind Alex's bad-boy facade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers."

My Review:

I really liked this audio book. The voices were great, no issues with tone, believability or pace.

I loved how introspective they both were about their lives.   I saw how their pasts effected their present and I was making the same connections with them as I listened, it was very cool.

Alex was a bit wishy washy throughout this book though. He started out as a dick just for the sake of being a dick and I found him a bit hard to like at first. But then he evolved into a great character. I loved how attentive he was to Sutton and the whole ending make up scene was just awesome!  But the part when he backslid I was real disappointed in, like a lot. And that made it hard to accept his redemption a bit.

I felt that Sutton was too much for him really.  Though they had similar backgrounds, she was farther along in her coping and dealing than Alex.  I can see how that would be a great catalyst for him to change but I just didn’t believe it.  Sutton was a confident, well put together character, even though I found her a bit too perfect. And I can see how her ability to deal with her past was a bit intimidating to Alex.  But these are all just little nit pickings that I noticed after I finished the book.  All in all it was a great well-rounded novel that I enjoyed and would recommend.

I’ve read later books in this series and have always wanted to go back to the beginning! Might have to check it out no audio!
