Blurb:

Jess Carter only wants to finish out her senior year of high school. No friends, no boyfriends, and definitely not an insanely hot, overprotective guy who might possibly be her mate. No thanks. She only came to the tiny town of Banks, Idaho to make sure her dad doesn't do anything too crazy. Like buy the local motel where you pay by the hour.

Dangerous stalkers and a group of students known as the Pack are the opposite of what she plans on, but that doesn’t change the fact that she has zero intentions of getting involved.

At all. Period. End of story.

Except, the stalkers are after her, the insanely hot guy is one of the high school coaches, and the Pack….well, let’s just say the name suits them.

With nowhere else to turn, Jess must rely on the Pack to protect her, but in doing so, she becomes caught up in a brewing war over territory and power. One that may cost her everything.

Mild language. No cliffhanger. HEA guaranteed.A paranormal, shifter romance.

My Review:

Loved loved loved this shifter book!  I mean, I’m not really picky when it comes to shifter books but this one is in my top five for sure!

Jess is extremely independent, due to the fact that her mother is a conniving, deceitful, manipulating homewrecker who also happens to be a gold digger.  So when her mom chose the selfish route and left for greener pastures, Jess stepped up and took it upon her self to look after her heartbroken father and precocious little brother.  And the family is pretty close in this YA. I love when the family plays a prominant role in the MC’s life.  It shows a level of thoroughness that I appreciate so much.  She has mad family support in this book.  So it’s consistent with her character to not take crap from the male MC’s when they try to give her shit and /or make decisions for her.  I really love how she isn’t lost in the story, but chooses to instead not know everything, even when its offered to her.  I mean, she does figure shit out but she is only involved as much as absolutley possible.  And it works in this book so well. I didn’t get frustrated with her not wanting to know everything.

I thnk a lot of that is due to the shifters in this book.  They aren’t your typical alpha possessive asshole’s.  Well, there are ‘good’ shifter’s and ‘bad’ shifter’s.  The ‘good’ ones are pretty decent.  They go to school, have friends and homework and they aren’t mean to humans for no reason.  They are pretty regular honestly.  Now in this shifter family, there isn’t a lot of family introduced. It’s basically the teenagers show.  Which isn’t as odd as it sounds.  Shifters generally keep to themselves and its not unusual for them to deal with some issues without involving elders.  They do make appearances but they are not as involved as Jess’ family.

I loved the plot of this story, it was easy to follow, yet had enough depth and obstacles to keep my interest. And there was some intense ‘moments’ sprinkled in that was unexpected and appreciated.  The whole concept of the mating situation in this book was cool and different.  I flew through this novel, and then I flew through the next one. And I can’t wait till the third one!
