Blurb:

Sky Broussard has spent the last nine years of her life fighting for custody and raising her nephews. Between trying to make ends meet as a waitress at the Bon Temps Café, and keeping an eye on two troublesome teens, she’s had zero time for indulgences like romance.

No worries, she hasn’t been interested in the opposite sex for a long time. Not until she meets the snarling, growling, hotter-that-an-inferno hunk who caught her nephews trespassing on his swampland deep in the Louisiana bayou.

Too bad he’s off his rocker. Seriously. He thinks he’s a dragon, calls her his mate, follows her home, and refuses to leave her side. She really should put a stop to the insanity. She really should. Except, her libido is running on overdrive and, who knows, he might be her chance to finally lose her V-card.

This is the first book of Candace Ayers' latest series, Dragons of the Bayou. This book introduces the series, the setting, and a few of the characters thereby priming the stage for subsequent shifter romances set in the swamplands of the deep south.

This is a hot and spicy, super steamy paranormal dragon shifter fantasy romance with an HEA and no cliffhangers.

My Review:

Favorite Quote:

My insides swooned. It was stupid and weak, getting all jelly-legged because a man tried, unsuccessfully, to cook me breakfast—then broke my stove. The bar was low, apparently, and swoon I did. Internally.

OMG this book was so far beyond the realm of believability.  It was a train wreck.  But I read it and kinda didn’t care that it was too fast and unbelievable. Only cause it was short though.  The cover is wanting but I have found that while most times you can absolutely judge a book by it’s cover, there are exceptions.  This isn’t one of them though. 😉

Sky is trying very hard to hold her family together and doing a terrible job at it.  Really she is kind of an idiot.  She lacks common sense and is far too driven by her emotions to be in charge of two teenage boys.  These kids are assholes and have issues with authority, abandonment and reckless behavior.  Dealing with that on it’s own would have been a great story, and the author grazed some of these issues in the book but it really just kind of clouded the true plot.

The dragon shifter is beyond ridiculous.  He is old, far to set in his ways and refuses to compromise.  He expects his woman to fall all over him and just be at his side all the time. He follows her to work, to her house and refuses to leave.  Sure he is attractive and rich but we don’t live in medieval times here bro.  Back the fuck up with your possessive ass!  He was irrideemable IMO and an idiot to boot.  It was just so terrible I had to laugh really.   You can tell by this review I will NOT be reading more of this series.
