This one was ok, the story didn’t move very fast but the character development made up for it. Even though it wasn’t as fast as I usually like. I was really surprised I didn’t like it more. I love Melissa Haag’s writing but this one was by far the worst book I’ve read by her. Which is a shame because Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite fairy tales to read.
It was almost a cross between BATB and Cinderella. Her dad was an idiot and her sisters treated her like she was a servant. I didn’t like how she was the only one that seemed worth redeeming. I like when the side charatcers have depth as well. But that was not the case in this one. I didn’t care about her family at all and felt it took too long for them to get their comeupance.
And the beast was wanting in my opinion. He didn’t really do much of anything except let her in his house. He wasn’t really a big bad. And we don’t get to know him that much so I didn’t connect with his character enough to care about his relationship with the chic.
