25241402Synopsis: When Jace Carver snags a minor part in his buddy’s zombie flick, he suddenly starts getting noticed all over the place. Even Hollywood megastar Carletta Ocean—known for her extensive “research” with her male co-stars—wants Jace for her new rom-com. The role could be a game-changer . . . if Jace nails the audition.

As Jace’s agent, Shaylene Kwak is all business, and isn’t about to let her favorite client blow this opportunity. Since their college years, Shay has been immune to Jace’s charm and rock-hard body. But long hours in close company have a way of wearing down even the best defenses, and when their platonic teasing turns into serious flirting, Jace and Shay are no longer able to resist what’s been right in front of them the entire time.

Shay knows Jace’s love-’em-and-leave-’em history with women. She’s not about to be just another notch in his belt. And it’s true, Jace has never wanted more than a one-night stand—until now. But at the end of the line, he’s got a choice: sleep with Carletta and seal the deal, or risk his career for a shot at true love with Shay.

4.5 Stars

I received an ARC copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.  I did not realize it was the second book in the series and I didn’t realize that it’s not out yet because I am new to this whole netgalley thing. I like how the gender roles were kinda reversed, whereas Shay was dominant and it wasn’t like Jace was a submissive, he was just a non-dominant personality, he liked to make jokes and Shay didn’t take any of his shit and she was very much in charge throughout the whole book. I did enjoy the fact she wrote these characters as an opposites attract story and it really struck home for me because my husband and I are complete opposites, we do not like the same things but we make it work.

This book was hilarious, there were a lot of funny scenes in it. Since I jumped the gun and requested the second one I will be going back and reading the first one.  The love story was steamy, realistic and humorous.  Jace had a lot of vulnerability, he seems to be at war with what his head was telling him and what his heart was telling him throughout the whole story.  Shay was an enigma to me, she didn’t seem to give anything away, up until the very end she held it all in and I couldn’t tell if she was really into him or not.  I liked how the male was vulnerable and unsure in that role. Usually in books I read the male is very dominant and cock sure and Jace wasn’t that at all. He was laid back, down to earth, he had no interest on love.  He wanted his one night stands, he was all about his career until he realized that there could be more and he could share that with somebody and have that intimacy.
All in all the book was well rounded and I would recommend this to others.
