seeressSynopsis: I love Torin St. James…
I need his strength…
But someone from his past wants me dead.

Raine Cooper is certain of two things: her love for Torin St. James and her destiny to be a powerful seeress. But when she starts having premonitions, they are unclear and disturbing. Worse, they involve Torin. With her mother gone, her father dying, and her best friend in Hel, she is not sure who to talk to.

But when the visions become more personal and she foresees her future with Torin threatened by someone from his past, Raine becomes desperate for answers. Just her luck two new students arrive at her school and they seem to have answers. When with them, her powers are enhanced and her visions become clear. There is only one problem: Torin forbids Raine to see the two girls.

Can their love survive without trust?

Okay, I know the cover reads book three but its not.  There is a side series that intertwines with this one and when reading them in chronological order this is book four. Moving on…

You know, I remember liking this series but once I started re-reading the fourth book I realized that my tasted may have changed.  This book was slooooooow, so sloooooooow and I noticed that the characters didn’t change that much. You would think by the fourth book that the characters would have more depth and growth but they stayed linear.  It took me a long time to re-read it honestly because I just couldn’t get into it. I mean, I want to finish the series, there’s only six book as far as I am aware.  I just started the fifth one so I think I’m just going to have to push through.  Unfortunately, this book really let me down the second time around.

Torin was a jackass and I don’t really like him anymore.  I felt him to be very immobile, he refused to compromise whenever they didn’t agree and it was very off putting.  And Eirik showed up at the very end and played this really weird switch-a-roo. It seemed inconsistent with the storyline because he hadn’t really been brought up until the last 30 percent-ish of the book.  Hell, he wasn’t even in this book until the very end.  It just didn’t go over very well with me.

And Raine is way too impulsive for me, you would think after all this time that she would develop some restraint. She has a great support system but she refuses to use it so it’s really annoying when she jumps into things and doesn’t think about them or ask advice before she flies off the handle and ends up getting into more trouble.  I also found her to be a bit too whiny.

It sounded like I am totally slamming this book but I just expected more so I am being a bit hard on it is all.  It’s worth a read, maybe just not a re-read.

This also covers one of my Book bingo spots on a challenge I am doing this year from fellow blogger Katie over at http://justanothergirlandherbooks.blogspot.de/

Check it out if you guys are interested.

  1. It’s so weird, I just started rereading a favourite series too, and there are so many things bugging me this time around!! But it’s been 3+ years since I last read it, so I am a different reader. It’s at least finally sucked me back in.

  2. I had that happened to me too. And I also have it happened the other way around. There are books I didn’t like the first time but I got hooked on them when I re-read.
