These Royals will ruin you…

From mortal enemies to unexpected allies, two teenagers try to protect everything that matters most.

Ella Harper has met every challenge that life has thrown her way. She’s tough, resilient, and willing to do whatever it takes to defend the people she loves, but the challenge of a long-lost father and a boyfriend whose life is on the line might be too much for even Ella to overcome.

Reed Royal has a quick temper and even faster fists. But his tendency to meet every obstacle with violence has finally caught up with him. If he wants to save himself and the girl he loves, he’ll need to rise above his tortured past and tarnished reputation.

No one believes Ella can survive the Royals. Everyone is sure Reed will destroy them all.

They may be right.

With everything and everyone conspiring to keep them apart, Ella and Reed must find a way to beat the law, save their families, and unravel all the secrets in their Twisted Palace.

My Review:

Favorite Quote:

Time flies when you’re fighting bullies and falling in love.

OMG, this one was like a reality show and I loved every minute of it. It was similar to the previous ones in the fact that it was ridiculously over the top.  But this one had a more intense consequence than the others.  I mean, I called the whodunit pretty early on. But it was nice to see how the author got the characters to figure it out.

I really liked the relationship that developed between Ella and her dad.  At first I was solely on her side about his incredibly restrictive rules.  I mean, he was NEVER in her life and all of the sudden he thinks he can try to be a father? Yeah, no that wouldn’t fly with me. I don’t care if he was temporarily dead in the first two books. But after hearing from the other students at her school I did see where he was coming from and realized I was probably being a bit biased towards him because of my deep investment in Ella’s character.

I also enjoyed how Reed and Ella tried to cope with the police investigation. He did what he knows best, distancing himself from those he loves to make it easier for everyone.  And she did what she does best, holds on tight.  It was pretty intense for a while there.

The ending was like a Jerry Springer show. Gah, it was awesome, I hooted and laughed even though it was I guess technically supposed to be a serious issue.  I really didn’t care for the side piece Reeds dad was doing so her death didn’t really impact me in any way.

Oh, but I did respect the hell out of her attempt to improve her life situation. And how she helped her friend get in with her too.  At the last minute I was grateful for the ‘evil’ stepmother. She got her revenge, that in hindsight I think she deserved.  Also her end was nicely tied up because I couldn’t figure out why the heck she was still a relevant character in the book after the way he treated her. In short: I dug this book. It might even be my favorite one in the series so far.
