Blurb:

Booze, women, and brotherhood—that’s what my good friend Quinn’s bachelor party should have been.

Booze, one mysterious raven-haired woman, and an arrest—that’s what it was.

As Cam Mitchell, a New York Maverick and one of the best tight ends in the professional football league, my to-do list should be pretty simple.

Play ball.
Get laid.
Have fun.

But after one hour with a stripper named Trixie, that list of mine has shifted dramatically.

Tell Quinn to call my lawyer. And, for the love of God, don’t get fired from the Mavericks.

I swear, I tried to make it stop there. But one tiny thing keeps finding its way to the very top…

Find out more about the dark-haired beauty with the big blue eyes and make her mine.

Too bad it’s a hell of a lot more complicated than that.

How do you fall in love with a woman whose real name you don’t know?

Well, ladies and gentlemen…I’m about to find out.

From the New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of TAPPING THE BILLIONAIRE comes a hilarious and sexy standalone about a secret, forbidden romance and just how tricky love can be.

My Review:

I received a free copy through the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.

4.5 stars — Okay, so I admit I haven’t read the previous 2 books in this series, but other than making me want to read them now, it didn’t affect my enjoyment WHATSOEVER!!  So I can confidently say that when they say it can be read as a standalone, it totes can!!

I think 80% of the stars earned in this book are for Cam.  SERIOUS SWOON ALERT.  I mean, he has been permanently etched onto my book boyfriend list.  I just…gah!  Seriously, he embodies so many of the things I gravitate towards in a book boy.  He’s smart, funny, motivated, dedicated…but most importantly, he’s kind of sensitive and romantic at heart.  I just don’t get to read enough guys like him, and that feels like a shame.  He likes romantic comedies you guys!!!  He quotes Notting Hill!  Watching him deal with his crush on Lana was nothing short of adorable!!  I just wanted to push her in the face and step into her place.  Oooo, that rhymed!!  But seriously, he was upfront about his feelings, confident on the outside, nervous on the inside, and just a man of integrity and honesty.  *sigh*  Excuse me while I twitterpate.  (and side shoutout to Lucky the Bulldog…you were hilarious, and I’m kind of bummed that we didn’t get more of you)

Anyways, while I was fully enraptured by Cam, I definitely loved Lana as well.  She could be a tough nut to crack, and I experienced many frustrations with her throughout the book, but I also understood why she was the way she was.  I loved her dedication to her career, and the passion she had for it.  I worried for her, and the situation she was in, but thankfully she made it to the end unscathed.  I appreciated that while she was tough and “badass”, she also cried when her heart was broken (even though she was the one breaking it).  It’s refreshing to have a tough girl who isn’t afraid to cry.  And I LOVED her support system with her family and extended “family”.  They were hilarious, and so cute with the way they cared for her.

And OMG, the chemistry between Cam and Lana was just perfect.  They gave me butterflies in the “crush” stage, and tingles in the steamy scenes.  And they made me laugh with their banter back and forth.

Seriously you guys, this book made me laugh out loud MULTIPLE times.  I kept covering my mouth, even though I was home and my hubby had earphones on so it wasn’t like I was disturbing anyone.  It was just so enjoyable to read.

So yeah.  Totes gonna have to read MUCH MORE Max Monroe now.

NOTE: qualifies for COYER Scavenger Hunt item #31: Read a book by an author you’ve previously read and given 5 stars
