Blurb:A jock, a journalist and a second chance . . .
MacKenzie Decker was a question Avery never got to ask, much less answer. They met when she was a young reporter fueled by ambition, and the ink on Deck's first NBA contract was barely dry. Years later, they've climbed so high and lost so much, but one thing hasn't changed. The attraction that simmered between them in a locker room before is still there. With success like theirs, everything has been possible . . . except them.
That was then. But what about now?

4.5 stars — Wow. This was a lot more emotional of a novella than I was expecting. Which is really silly, b/c it’s Kennedy Ryan…I should have known. I haven’t read anything in this series yet, and while we’re not introduced to any of those characters, I am intrigued by the world now.
The thing about this novella is that it had HEAPS and HEAPS of depth. Ms. Ryan is not afraid to tackle some really tough subjects. And I kinda don’t want to go into it in depth because I feel like it would be doing the book a disservice…but at the same time, I have SO MANY THOUGHTS in my head. So it’s up to you if you read those thoughts: View Spoiler »
Avery had quite the journey to go through, and she definitely frustrated me at times, but I really appreciated the story she had to tell. She also made me laugh at her sass!
Decker had moments where he almost seemed too good to be true, but I still believed him. His support of Avery was swoon-worthy. He was also sassy and hilarious, so bonus!
And their chemistry was fantastic. OMG, Ms. Ryan writes some of the most raw steamy scenes I’ve ever read…seriously hot.
So yeah. If you’re looking for a fluffy Christmas read, this book is not for you. If you want something a bit more, then look no further.
I do love Kennedy Ryan. I have a book that’s in my queue but I have to prepare myself for all the feels. Lol, that sounds silly reading it out loud.
Yay! Yay! Yay! I love that you loved this one. I had to look back at my review and I did, too.I loved how humorous and sweet it was. Nice review!
