Blurb:

Life in Uttira isn't easy for Megan. Knowing what she is hasn't helped her control her temper, an unfortunate personality trait that might just keep her from graduating. Her mood swings don't bother her as much as the weird side effects that come with them. When things start to go up in flames around her, she knows she needs help controlling her abilities. But, the only person with the answers abandoned Megan in Uttira months ago.

Megan knows she must find her mother in the real world. However, the only way out of the magical barrier surrounding Uttira is with the mark of Mantirum. A mark she will only receive if she can manage to graduate from Girderon Academy. In order to start her search, Megan needs to learn to control her temper… or die trying.

My Review:

Favorite Quote:

“You are the most beautiful thing in my life.  A perfection I never thought the gods could achieve,” he said. “You’re not just saying that to get in my panties, are you,” I said, already knowing the answer. “No.  It’s not the truth because I want you; I want you because it’s the truth.”

::sigh::  Isn’t Oanen just dreamy? He stands by her when she gets temporary insanity and decides she is too dangerous to be with anyone.  She does finally come to her senses but not before really hurting him, something I’m still trying to forgive her for honestly.  In this book, her actions are too selfish and I found myself thinking that Oanen deserved better than what she had to offer.

But it all came out in the wash as I like to say, so I guess that’s all that matters.

In this second installment, Megan knows what she is but unfortuantely, she can’t control nor contain it.  It was a dangerous situation and I hated the way she handled it.  No one is an island, yet she somehow thought she could take care of it on her own.  Stubborn child.  I expected more growth on her part in this book, instead I think the supporting characters showed more growth than her.  It was a bit of a let down honestly.  She tried controlling situations that were uncontrollable and for that I am glad she got burned as often as she did.  I just wish she would have learned from those situations instead of continuing to ram her head into a wall, so to speak.

The romance was the real winner in this book, as the fury mystery was a bit too clouded and unclear for me to really sift through.  I think I like the side characters more than the MC in this one.
