Blurb:

When I went to my neighbour’s apartment to investigate strange sounds, I never expected to fall through a portal into another world. Yet here I am, a stranger in an even stranger land... and I'm stranded. In this world, might makes right, men carry swords, and gods walk the earth. Within minutes of arriving, I’m enslaved!

Fun place...

How do I get home? GREAT question. Wish I had an answer!

The one person that might be able to help me is also the one person I want to throttle most. Aron, Lord of Storms, Butcher God of Battle, is my new companion. Or rather, I'm his. As Aron's anchor to the mortal realm, I'm the one that's supposed to be guiding him through his exile in the mortal world...

Ha. Joke's on him. I know nothing about this place!

But Aron and I have a common goal - get home. And we're bonded - anchor and god - with a bond unlike any other. So we travel together. We bicker. We bathe together. We fight our many, many enemies together. And sure, he’s a god, but he’s also an arrogant jerk. Brawny, smoking hot, irresistible jerk. I should want nothing to do with him. I certainly shouldn’t want to do things to him...

Mortals and gods don’t mix. We stick to the plan and ignore our attraction. Focused, with one goal in mind...

One task...

One goal...

Focused!

I-oh heck, I’m going to end up kissing him again, aren’t I?

My Review:

Ok, the cover isn’t the greatest, but (insert dramatic pause here) DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT’S COVER!  🙂

I’m a huge Ruby Dixon fan but her series have soooo many books in them. Which is fine but I wanted a break from the Ice Planet Barbarian series.  I stumbled across this beauty and thought, “what the heck?” It has a nice slow burn romance and there’s a lot of action.  Never a dull moment and the pacing was perfect to absorb everything that was happening.

Faith is a herione after my own heart. She uses humor as a defense tactic and snarkiness is her first language.  I love her.  As she develops into a more robust character we find that she can be serious when it counts and her loyalty once won is hard put to be lost.  I loved how even though she kinda had to make sure Aron, the god of storms, didn’t die; she also just genuinely didn’t want him to die.  I mean, some people are selfish and only think about themselves but she surprised me again and again with her willingness to stand with Aron against those that wanted him to die.

Aron was a hard nut to crack at first. He was arrogant and uncaring, had terrible social etiquette and also was to prideful to take advice or let others know he was ignorant of something.  I wasn’t particularly fond of him in the beginning. But as Faith showed him in actions and words (ones he rarely listened to at first) he slowly started to see the diamond in the rough he had.  Their friendship blossomed into something more and it was hot and sweet.  The ending was lovely and I almost missed that the fact that this was a stand alone.  But then I realized I have another 7 books to read in the Ice Planet series so that sorrow was short lived.  🙂
