Blurb:

My name is Tamsin Vale and my life is about to get real… Really complicated and ridiculously dangerous. Which is almost funny given at nineteen I already know too much of the darkness of the world and people, the secrets they keep.
Or so I thought.
Turns out those quirky abilities I’ve been keeping secret expose me to a world I didn’t know existed. Sure, I knew I wasn’t human—but how exactly do I find out more without ending up in the wrong hands?
And I’m not so sure I’m in the right hands now given some of the reactions to finding me. They say I’m the last fairy. I’m not sure I should trust them when their thoughts are mostly of power and how to use me.
But I’m also not sure I have much of a choice. My powers are dangerous and I don’t know how to use them. They promise to teach me what I need to know and give me a chance at something I’ve never had before.
A normal life. I don’t think anything about Artemis University and those who attend is normal, but it’s still better than the life I’ve been living if they keep half their promises.
I think hoping they’ll keep half is generous.
Artemis University is a hot burning reverse harem, university-age paranormal academy series with darker elements, strong language, violence, and a heroine who follows her own moral compass of what is right… And who she ends up giving her heart to.

My Review:

I was very hesitant in reading this book. In part because I don’t really like academy series. But a group I’m a part of posted an excerpt and it intrigued me enough to overcome my hesitatition and try it. SO GLAD I DID!
Tamsin is the most fleshed out chraracter I’ve ever read, if a bit arrogant, stubborn and self centered. In fact, I’m not even sure I like her at all. LOL, but her story is so wonderful. She has a very stong will, enough self-esteem for 10 teenagers and sex appeal for days! One thing I really hate about her is the fact that she is always so defensive about everything that people say to her. Her thinking is a bit one sided and she jumps the gun and tears into them for their views if she doesn’t agree with them. Then if she is shown she’s wrong, she will apologize, which I guess isn’t so one sided but she gets offended so damn fast without even trying to understand where the other person is coming from. I see a lot of arguments that could have been avoided if she would just have listened first instead of feeling slighted over some imaginary transgression. This happens quite a bit and it got old real fast. There was also a lot of the same metaphors being used, like the steam coming out of the ears, that must have beeen in there at LEAST four times. Three times too many.

I love that the supporting characters aren’t just token girls who only come around to talk about buys or all guys who like her just cause they want to get in her pants. The professor/student quasi-affair is very well laid out and not too over the top. The dragon prince, Hudson, gives us sex without drama. I really like Darby and Izzy or is it Lizzy?
I can;t remember all their names because there are so many side characters that have a big role.

I fully intend to read more in this series but I need a break because her story is so involved and full of drama, I need something thats a bit less involved.
