Blurb:

Think you know about gargoyles? The beautiful winged race disappeared eight hundred years ago. When they last walked the earth, they traveled in close-knit packs, their throats marked with ancient runes. Their greatest enemies were the ugly and brutal harpies that people today mistake for gargoyles.

Sophie Kowalski has a great life and a wonderful boyfriend. The last thing she needs is for Havoc Greystone to walk back into her life. He's the guy who promised to wait for her to grow up…then disappeared for the next four years.
After waiting out four years in his stone form, Havoc's ready to keep his promise to Sophie and take her to prom. Too bad the pretty teenager has moved on. Too bad the harpies haven't. In the middle of the biggest romantic misunderstanding of all time, the winged demons show up to complicate things and threaten the lives of the Greystone Pack.

My Review:

4 stars — Yay!!  That was a solid finish to the series!  I was getting worried b/c I was liking the books less and less as we went along…and while this one did have some things that irked me, there were some other things that surprised the heck out of me and I adored!  So it balanced off as a solid series finisher.

What’s funny is that Havoc himself was one of the main things that irked me!  I guess I had an idea in my head of who he was, but he came across a lot more self-involved and dickish in this book.  Which is not to say he didn’t have his charming moments, but I was disappointed with how disappointed I was in him throughout this book.  And if it had mostly just been at the beginning and he’d grown, I probably would have looked upon it more favourably…but then he was a jerk again later on.  His dickish ways just kept coming back to haunt him.  So that was a bummer.  Because I love how unique he is from the rest of the pack!  And I get that he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder from how they treat him, and I did get some of the moments where he snapped, but other times I was like NOPE!

We really didn’t get to learn too much about Sophie in this one, but I appreciated that she grew into this confident girl.  All in all I thought she got the short end of the stick and was bummed for her, but she was definitely a lass I could see liking if we got more of her.

Honestly?  This book was saved by Mitschka.  I…didn’t see that coming.  That plot line was so fascinating, and emotional, and impactful, and I really appreciated what Ms. Longford did by including her.  I loved her background and the surprises that came from that, giving us some closure for our boys.  And there were surprises within the surprises that I enjoyed!  I know I’m being vague, but I really don’t want to spoil it.

And surrounding that, I enjoyed the one last big conflict that the entire pack was involved in, and that we got to see a bit of each of them almost.

And then there was the epilogue!!  What an absolute fan service that was, I LOVED IT!!

So yeah.  Even though Havoc disappointed me, he had his good moments too.  And the rest of the story elements helped this series end on a good note for me!
