Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 2056 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Every Last Kiss (The Bloodstone Saga #1) by Courtney Cole — OK, I will admit that I totally thought this was going to be one that stayed, b/c I remember the old cover…and for some reason when something sticks in my head for 8+ years, I figure it has sticking power. But that blurb just doesn’t sound like me. It might be okay, but I have way too many other books I’m more interested in. As such, I will be deleting book 2 as well.

Verdict: Goes

The Woodcutter by Kate Danley — Hmmm…it sounds like it could be interesting, but I would likely be more interested if I actually had the 47North version (with the pretty new cover). I bet my version is less polished. Also, if I’m trying to convince myself to keep something, then it’s a no go no matter the reason.

Verdict: Goes

Devil’s Lair by David Wisehart — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Breathless (Jason and Azazel #1) by V.J. Chambers — Eh…interesting concept, but the blurb doesn’t even draw me in.

Verdict: Goes

Loki’s Daughters by Delle Jacobs — Could be good, but again, I have other books I’m more interested in.

Verdict: Goes

Forged in Fire (Red-Hot SEALs #1) by Trish McCallan — Ehhh….

Verdict: Goes

One Last Bite (Must Love Vampires #1.5) by Heidi Betts — OK, so here’s the thing — I don’t have book one, and this is a bonus epilogue. And I can’t see myself getting it, so…

Verdict: Goes

The Childe (The Childe #1) by C.A. Kunz — Eh….

Verdict: Goes

Slow Burn (The Fitzgerald Family #1) by E.B. Walters — Another one that sounds okay, but not I NEED IT. I have book 2 as well, so they’re both going.

Verdict: Goes

A Proper Charlie by Louise Wise — Meh.

Verdict: Goes
