Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 2043 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Angel Fire (Fallen Angels #1) by Valmore Daniels — Ehhhh…doesn’t interest me enough.

Verdict: Goes

Silas by Robert J. Duperre — The dog almost had me…but I honestly doubt I’ll ever put this at the top of my list, so it might as well go.

Verdict: Goes

Of Blood and Honey (The Fey and the Fallen #1) by Stina Leicht — Eh.

Verdict: Goes

The Vincent Boys (The Vincent Boys #1) by Abbi Glines — Ms. Glines books are very mixed for me, and this blurb has me already knowing it’s not likely going to be my thing. I have book 2 as well, so that’s going too.

Verdict: Goes

Destined (Destined #1) by Jessie Harrell — Here’s the thing…I’ve read a Psyche/Cupid retelling that I LOVED, and I’m kinda thinking everything else is just going to pale…so oh well.

Verdict: Goes

Everneath (Everneath #1) by Brodi Ashton — This one has been on my list all year because it’s a Hades/Persephone retelling, and I’m not ready to let it go yet.

Verdict: Stays

Flirting with Death (Assassins Anonymous #1) by Heidi Hall — Eh…could be fun, but I doubt I’d get to it.

Verdict: Goes

Stealing Parker (Hundred Oaks #2) by Miranda Kenneally — Huh, I totally thought this was going to be a no-brainer stays…but reading a few friends reviews, I realized I will probably be uncomfortable with the coach/student relationship too, so I’m going to let this one go and focus on other books by Ms. Kenneally. If I change my mind, I can always get it from the library.

Verdict: Goes

His Mistress, His Terms by Trish Wylie — Ah, and so we come to some Harlequin books. I will have a huge DTTH issue coming up soon with a bunch of Harlequins I got from eharlequin. But this one is from Amazon. I feel like some of these are going to be hard, b/c these are a guilty pleasure for me, but I’m not sure if I’m the same person anymore. This one makes me feel nostalgic, so I’m going to take a risk and keep it for now.

Verdict: Stays

Intent to Seduce/A Glimpse of Fire by Cara Summers/Debbi Rawlins — Whereas these 2 don’t really pull me in, so bye!

Verdict: Goes

  1. Stealing Parker is probably one of my least favorite books I’ve read in that series, so not a bad call.
I get the Abbi Glines thing. Some work for me, some don’t. I actually listened to both Vincent Boys books and loved them.
