My True Love Gave to Me… by Jennifer LaBrecque

Years ago in the town of Good Riddance, Alaska, Gertie and Knox were best friends—until Knox fell under the "spell" of a rather cold, remote woman. My Review:

THE PRINCE WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS by Leslie Kelly
4 stars — Well!  I was not expecting that!  It was still fun, but I totally thought the kjaeshf-ia kingdom was going to be some made up country on earth…not sure if that’s a spoiler, but it totally threw me off!  It added a strange magical element though, and really wasn’t delved into in too much depth, so…not sure what I was trying to say.

ANYWAYS.  Both Claire and Philip were pretty likable characters — some cheek to them, and they had great chemistry together.  Sure, the love happened a wee bit quickly, but we did at least sort of get to see them getting to know one another and falling more than just in lust with one another.  So all in all, it was a strangely satisfying if unique steamy Christmas read!

3.5 stars — There was a lot I did enjoy in this book, from the setting and the atmosphere, to even our former BFFs Trudie and Knox.  I was worried that with Elsa in the picture(ish) that I would be uncomfortable, but things got laid out pretty plainly relatively early on.  I did feel for Trudie though.  I loved that we got to see the perspective of what happened with Knox and why he did what he did, but I guess I wanted him to more effusively *get* how that affected Trudie.  Like, he was sad he hurt her, but I don’t think he got the depth.  I don’t know.  There was also some moments that moved fast (like at the end when she changed her mind) that we didn’t really get to see, and I was a bit bummed about that.  Basically, I think I would have enjoyed this as a novel more than I did as a novella.
