Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault. She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE. It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in. I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR). And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE! Poof! JUST DO IT! My internal hoarder is screaming right now.
As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1974 books on it. No, that’s not a typo. You see why this meme might be good for me. I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.
Oh, That I Had Wings (The Langdons #1) by Sarah Pawley — I got this one because I had read Finding Grace and enjoyed it, and I think there were crossover characters. Now Finding Grace doesn’t even seem to be available, and I’m not sure it’s grabbing me anymore.
Verdict: Goes
Guardian by Elita Daniels — Yeah not feeling it.
Verdict: Goes
Spectacle by Angie McCullagh — So I know the height thing probably sucked me in, but I’m just not feeling it anymore.
Verdict: Goes
In the Spotlight (Mayne Attraction #1) by Ann Mauren — I’m a bit intrigued, but the reviews have me saying nope.
Verdict: Goes
Awakening (The Watchers #1) by Karice Bolton — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Sundial (Light Bringer #1) by C.F. Fruzzetti & M.I. Pearsall — Now titled The Pure Energy Project (The Whitney Forbes Series #1). Apparently these authors decided to make significant changes and rerelease the book with a new name and new ASIN. So I can’t get the new copy unless I buy it. And I can’t help but assume the next books will follow the new book. So even if I was interested, that just got too complicated for me.
Verdict: Goes
First Degree Innocence by Ginger Simpson — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Rippler (Ripple #1) by Cidney Swanson — I actually eventually got the box set of this trilogy, so suddenly I feel like I have to give it greater thought. It sounds all right, but 2 friends of mine only thought it was meh…so not sure if I care to invest. So I’ll be removing the other 2 as well.
Verdict: Goes
44 (44 #1) by Jools Sinclair — Meh.
Verdict: Goes
Divorced, Desperate and Delicious (Divorced and Desperate #1) by Christie Craig — Could be fun, but it’s just not grabbing me enough.
GOES, GOES, GOES, GOES! I love it! I should have kept a list of all the books I just deleted off my Kindle to do one of these posts. I love reading yours. Oh well.
It’s so satisfying, isn’t it?? I don’t know why, but I like making lists, so this appeals to me. đŸ˜‰
I’m going to start keeping a list when I toss them now so I can share them.
I also got The Rippler trilogy sitting on my Kindle… I decided to keep it, but if I do not get to it by the end of 2021 I’m letting it go.
