Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1931 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

On the Fringe by Courtney King Walker — You know what? I was actually pretty tempted by that blurb. But…I don’t know, I just have to be realistic, and I’m not sure I’ll reach for it…especially since I already have a great ghost love story that it would inevitably compete against.

Verdict: Goes

iFeel (Vis Vires Trilogy #1) by Marissa Carmel — Honestly? I didn’t even read the blurb. The books are no longer available, and the trilogy appears unfinished, and I ain’t got time for that.

Verdict: Goes

The Witching Pen (The Witching Pen #1) by Dianna Hardy — Unique, but not catchy enough.

Verdict: Goes

Flame of Surrender (The Ferryman and the Flame #1) by Rhiannon Paille — Another one I didn’t really read the blurb of because it’s no longer available on Amazon, and I ain’t got time for that.

Verdict: Goes

Yoke (Bound #1) by E.M. Ragland — If you couldn’t tell, I was dibs in on the Angel trend back in the day. But since this book is supposedly a trilogy, and there are no other books written, yeah bye.

Verdict: Goes

Promises (Syrenka #1) by Amber Garr — I like mermaids, but I’m just not that interested…though damn, I love the new cover way more than this one!

Verdict: Goes

Airborne (Airborne Saga #1) by Constance Sharper — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Crossroads (Crossroads Saga #1) by Mary Ting — Damn the new covers are pretty! While intriguing, I read the excerpt on Amazon, and I don’t think I’d enjoy the writing style.

Verdict: Goes

Falling in Between (Falling #1) by Devon Ashley — I like the sassy feeling, but…I don’t know…just missing something to suck me in.

Verdict: Goes

Masquerade (Heven & Hell #1) by Cambria Hebert — I was probably always going to give this one more of a chance because I’ve enjoyed other books by Ms Hebert…though I know this one is COMPLETELY different. But the blurb intrigued me too, so it’ll stay for now.

Verdict: Stays
