Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1875 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet #1) by C.J. Roberts — I have 100% always been curious about this book. But apparently something always kept me from reading it. And I don’t know…I just don’t think I have it in me. I’m not really into dark romance, and I think if I’m going to start, I might want something newer. But this one was hard to let go of…

Verdict: Goes

Chance Encounters by J. Sterling — This does not sound like my bag…

Verdict: Goes

Hell on Wheels (Black Knights, Inc #1) by Julie Ann Walker– Meh.

Verdict: Goes

The Mind Readers (Mind Readers #1) by Lori Brighton — Another meh.

Verdict: Goes

Marked (Eternal Guardians #1) by Elisabeth Naughton — It has such great reviews, but I am loathe to invest in a long series…especially when the blurb is only meh. I think I just have too many other ones that are more intriguing for me.

Verdict: Goes

Witchy, Witchy (Spellbound Trilogy #1) by Penelope King — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Between Worlds (Trix-ology #1) by Yolande Krueger — I know exactly why I bought this book, and it’s the same reason I’m keeping it — SASKATCHEWAN!!! Home province love. I mean, if the blurb had been atrocious I would have ditched it, but it’s intriguing.

Verdict: Stays

That Boy (That Boy #1) by Jillian Dodd — Yeah, I tried another series by this author, and I just don’t think she’s for me. I don’t have the patience for what this book is offering, even though I know there will be cute parts.

Verdict: Goes

Robin: Lady of Legend by R.M. ArceJaeger — Concept is intriguing, but I can see myself passing it over for others.

Verdict: Goes

Fall From Grace (Mad World #1) by Christine Zolendz — Snark in the blurb? I’m in!

Verdict: Stays

  1. I also dumped That Boy off my Kindle this year. I have read one of her series that I really loved, but another was one I DNF’d. Great job cutting 300!
