Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1856 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

The Broken Road (The Broken Road #1) by Melissa Huie — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Supernova (The Supernova Saga #1) by Crystal Ward — Yeah, not grabbing me.

Verdict: Goes

The Unidentified Redhead (Redhead #1) by Alice Clayton — I remember having mixed feelings about this author’s writing/humour, so I think I’ll just pass on this one.

Verdict: Goes

Feed (Newsflesh #1) by Mira Grant — Could be good, but I’m not interested *enough*.

Verdict: Goes

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein — I know a lot of people who have really enjoyed this one, and even though I might check out the audio from the library, I’m still keeping for now.

Verdict: Stays

Touching Smoke (Touch #1) by Airicka Phoenix — Waffle waffle waffle…it could be really interesting, and I have a friend who loved it. But if I’m honest, it will probably keep getting pushed aside for other books. Ah well.

Verdict: Goes

Dare You To (Pushing the Limits #2) by Katie McGarry — I enjoyed the first book, and have always wanted to read books with the other characters…so definitely staying for now.

Verdict: Stays

The Fallen Star (Fallen Star #1) by Jessica Sorensen — Just doesn’t draw me in enough…

Verdict: Goes

The Forever of Ella and Micha (The Secret #2) by Jessica Sorensen — I always meant to get back to this series, and while I wonder if my tastes have changed, I still want to at least try again some time…so it stays for now.

Verdict: Stays

The Temptation of Lila and Ethan (The Secret #3) by Jessica Sorensen — Ditto for this one.

Verdict: Stays

  1. I loved that Katie McGarry book/series. I’m so glad it’s staying! I dumped the Alice Clayton book a while ago. Not sure why. I liked what else I had read from her.
