Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1827 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta — Dudes, I’m confused already in the blurb…and I don’t do well with easy confusion.

Verdict: Goes

Of Silk and Fire by Allie Brennan — It actually sounds kinda intriguing, but I just know I’ll keep forgetting about it and never get to it.

Verdict: Goes

Her Favorite Rival (Mathews Sisters #2) by Sarah Mayberry — It’s Sarah Mayberry, of course it stays…I might even try to get to it this summer for the Summer of Love.

Verdict: Stays

If You Stay (Beautifully Broken #1) by Courtney Cole — Can I admit that I didn’t even get through the blurb before I lost interest?

Verdict: Goes

Maybe Someday (Maybe #1) by Colleen Hoover — Even though I haven’t read any Coho since Hopeless, I know I need to get to this eventually…so it stays.

Verdict: Stays

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover — I’m not quite as intrigued by this one, but I still want to try it eventually…someday…maybe…see what I did there? Wrong book, but still funny.

Verdict: Stays

Happily Ever After? (Sleeping Handsome #2) by Jean Haus — Apparently I enjoyed the first book, so I might try a reread and give this a shot. It stays for now.

Verdict: Stays

Ember (Death Collectors #1) by Jessica Sorensen — I am somewhat intrigued, but I don’t think enough intrigued, you know?

Verdict: Goes

Funny Tragic Crazy Magic (Tragic Magic #1) by Sheena Boekweg — I kinda love the title…but it looks like a sequel was never written, and I get the impression it’s not a complete story so….

Verdict: Goes

Send by Patty Blount — Part of me is actually really intrigued by this one…the concept is unique. But I also can see myself passing over it. So it goes.

Verdict: Goes

  1. If I had to pick two favorite CoHo books, those two would probably be it. I’m glad you’re keeping them. I just went through my Kindle again and dumped some more books. I got rid of some Mia Sheridan and YA books I didn’t think I would read.

    • Yeah, I have some Mia Sheridan that will likely be coming up sooner than later. It’s really hard to decide, but I’m trying to be ruthless.

      • Well, I loved Asher’s Voice. I recently read Leo and that one was decent. I just don’t know that I feel like reading the rest. I kept them, but marked them as read in case I changed my mind.
