Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1790 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Racing Savannah (Hundred Oaks #4) by Miranda Kenneally — This is a tough one. It sounds interesting, but it’s not the one I’m clamouring for the most. And I could get it from the library. But. Hmm. I think I’ll keep for now, and decide on my next pass.

Verdict: Stays

Divergent (Divergent #1) by Veronica Roth — So here’s the thing…I’m not much for reading books after I’ve watched the movies. And I heard the ending was controversial. And I already kept the Hunger Games. So this one is going. If I truly change my mind, I can always get it at the library.

Verdict: Goes

Adaptation (Adaptation #1) by Malinda Lo — Might be interesting, but I’m trying to hard to convince myself to keep it…thus it goes.

Verdict: Goes

Keeping Her (Losing It #1.5) by Cora Carmack — I really enjoyed Losing It. But I feel like I’d have to reread it to enjoy this, and I’m not sure I needed more.

Verdict: Goes

The Missionary by Jack Wilder — I kinda thought I would be keeping this one, but I think there are other romantic suspense books I’m more interested in…

Verdict: Goes

The Education of Sebastian (The Education Of… #1) by Jane Harvey-Berrick — Another book I remember being really interested in, but I’m just…not anymore.

Verdict: Goes

Lost & Found (Lost and Found #1) by Nicole Williams — This is one of those books that if I’d read it back when I got it, I probably would’ve loved it. But I’m just not as interested anymore…plus, it’s not a standalone. So investment.

Verdict: Goes

Ties (Silver Strand #4) by Steph Campbell & Liz Reinhardt — Keeping for now!

Verdict: Stays

Magic Bites (Kate Daniels #1) by Ilona Andrews — Is it bad to say that the only reason I’d keep this book is because so many people love it? It’s probably why I have it in the first place. But I just keep being not interested. *sigh* So it’s going. If all else fails, this first book is at the library..

Verdict: Goes

Kat Fight by Dina Silver — Yeah, not interested.

Verdict: Goes

  1. OK this is a good project. I get what you mean about not being interested in things but I go in cycles where I am not interested and then I am. For example, I was off contemporary romance books and then summer and I’m into them again. I am very sad to see you drop the Kate Daniels book Magic Bites. It is one of my all time favorite series ever.

Anne – Books of My Heart

    • That choice was seriously so hard for me, b/c I know it’s extremely popular. But I just keep putting it off. And I figure it’s popular enough to be at the library if I change my mind.

  2. Racing Savannah – I just read this one recently. It was good. Not my favorite of hers, but not my least either.
Divergent – I actually loved this book. The next two books weren’t worth reading, though.
Keeping Her – I think I read this one, but I can’t remember it!
Lost & Found – I hate committing to series that are the same couple. I can see why you let this one go. I might still read it at some point. I don’t own it, though. So no pressure! Haha
Kat Fight – I bought this one at BB and got it signed. I wish I would have picked another of her books because I was not a fan and DNF’d it.
