Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1713 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

I Know Lucy (A Fugitive #1) by Melissa Pearl — I’m just not feeling this one, so I’ll let it go in favour of her more recent romantic suspense books.

Verdict: Goes

Conviction (Club Destiny #1) by Nicole Edwards — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Painted Faces (Painted Faces #1) by L.H. Cosway — I’ve been curious about this book, but I keep picking others over it. And I just say that it has some dubious consent issues, so I’m just going to listen to my subconscious that keeps passing it over and let it go.

Verdict: Goes

Come to Me Quietly (Closer to You #1) by A.L. Jackson — Another meh.

Verdict: Goes

Love and Cupcakes by Susan Bishop Crispell — Could be cute, but I’m not feeling super compelled.

Verdict: Goes

No One’s Angel (Chadwell Hearts #1) by Kelly Walker — Meh…I also apparently have book 2, so they both go.

Verdict: Goes

Surviving Raine (Surviving Raine #1) by Shay Savage — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Sing Me to Sleep by Angela Morrison — Oh yeah, that’s a nope. I can see why past Lenore got it, but present Lenore says nope.

Verdict: Goes

Ink My Heart (Luminescent Juliet #2) by Jean Haus — I really enjoyed the first book, so I want to reread and get back to this series.

Verdict: Stays

Open Minds (Mindjack #1) by Susan Kaye Quinn — Well shit, people seem to have very diverse reactions to this book: love it or hate it. I’ve read another book by Ms. Quinn and really enjoyed it (and want to get back to that series). So the question is, do I give this a try? Or give it a pass? *sigh* I’m going to keep for now…which means I’m keeping 8 books at the moment (a box set, 3 books, 3 novellas, and 1 in the spin off series).

Verdict: Stays

  1. I loved Cosway’s books with Reid, but I’ve only read one of her other books. It was good, but not my favorite. I should give her another chance, but I have passed over her other books like you did this one. I get why you would pass it over, if there is dubious content.
