Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1682 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Three Wishes by Kristen Ashley — Yup, still want to read it.

Verdict: Stays

Profile (Social Media #5) by J.A. Huss — While I am settled on not buying any other books from this author (she’s on the behaving badly list), I still might want to finish this series…stupid curiousity. So it and book 6 stay for now.

Verdict: Stays

More Than Forever (More Than #4) by Jay McLean — Don’t know how I managed to get book 4 before the others. I do also have book 1 at least. It seems like it’s different characters, but people say to read in order. Either way, I’m intrigued so I’ll be keeping this and book 1.

Verdict: Stays

Unraveled (Turner #3) by Courtney Milan — I enjoyed one of the novellas in this series a long time ago, so I’m willing to take a shot on this.

Verdict: Stays

Stalkers by Various Authors — I really only have this one because of a short story from a friend…and if I’m being honest, I have no desire to read the rest, so I’m letting it go.

Verdict: Goes

Forever Black (Forever #1) by Sandi Lynn — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

The Dark by Jason Brant — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Croak (Croak #1) by Gina Damico — Could be fun and different, but I don’t think I’m pulled in enough.

Verdict: Goes

Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky #1) by Veronica Rossi — Yes, I’m still intrigued. Yes, I still have cover love.

Verdict: Stays

Me Before You (Me Before You #1) by Jojo Moyes — Saw the movie…enjoyed it, but have no need to read the book. Besides, I’ve seen the concerns from the disabled community about the potential harm, so another reason not to take the time.

Verdict: Goes
