Down the TBR Hole — March 4th, 2022

Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1631 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Wicked (A Wicked Trilogy #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout — The COVER. I 100% bought this for the cover. I’m not getting pulled in by the blurb though, so I’mma let this one go in favour of Ms. Armentrout’s more recent serieses.

Verdict: Goes

Truth or Dare (Dare to Love #1) by Mira Lyn Kelly — I 100% got this one because I really enjoyed book 2. But that was a 7 years ago, and I don’t remember it anymore, and the blurb isn’t pulling me in. I’m seriously waffling, but I have a feeling I’ll just keep skipping over this one. Maybe if I’d gotten to it right away it would have been different.

Verdict: Goes

Forever Us (Xtreme Bachelor #1.5) by Caylie Marcoe — I’m almost positive I read this one, but since I didn’t review it, I guess I’ll have to read it again. I’m also keeping book 2, which I also read but haven’t reviewed, so again…darn, have to read it again.

Verdict: Stays

Bring the Rain by Lizzy Charles — I enjoy this author, but I am not feeling this book.

Verdict: Goes

Faith & Fidelity (Faith, Love, and Devotion #1) by Tere Michaels — I’m not feeling this one.

Verdict: Goes

Fraction of Stone (Fraction #1) by Kelley Lynn — I’ve mostly only read Ms. Lynn’s co-written stories, but I definitely want to check out this series. This and books 2 and 3 stay as well.

Verdict: Stays

Nocte (The Nocte Trilogy #1) by Courtney Cole — Well shit, I’m intrigued.

Verdict: Stays

Ravenous (The Ravening #1) by Erica Stevens — Eh, I’m just not interested. I think I might have won the second book, but I’m going to let them both go.

Verdict: Goes

Only with You (The Best Mistake #1) by Lauren Layne — This is a big nope from me. I remember being epically dismayed by book 2, and I have a feeling I won’t like these characters either. Ms. Layne is hit or miss for me, and I’m fine skipping this one.

Verdict: Goes

Temporal Shift (Dark Desires #4) by Nina Croft — I don’t know why I got book 4 first, but either way I think I’mma keep this series for now (which means 3 for keep). I’ve enjoyed her Beyond Human series, and I get a bit of that vibe here.

Verdict: Stays

    • Yeah, this is mostly just because of my visceral reaction to book 2. But since she has so many books, I’m fine skipping this one in favour of others.
