Down the TBR Hole — March 18th, 2022

Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1620 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

What If by Rebecca Donovan — I can see why I was intrigued, but I’m just not intrigued *enough* anymore. Sounds like it was a bit hit or miss for people.

Verdict: Goes

True Colors (The Masks #1) by Melissa Pearl — Yup, still intrigued by this one…and good thing, since I got the boxed set of the series a few years back. So this counts as 5 for stay.

Verdict: Stays

Standalones: a Collection by Carey Heywood — I actually already let Better go (who knew I had it in a boxed set too?). Looking at each book, I just don’t think they’re my thing. The only one I’m tempted by is Stages of Grace, but I’m okay just letting them all go (which would be 4).

Verdict: Goes

Steering the Stars by Autumn Doughton & Erica Cope — I’d keep this for the cover alone. Luckily I’m also still interested…I found that Ms. Doughton’s books always surprise me.

Verdict: Stays

Forbidden Territory (Mica & Lexy #1) by Melissa Pearl & Brenda Howson — I think I’ll stick to Ms. Pearl’s newer stuff (as Jordan Ford).

Verdict: Goes

Clear by Jessica Park — I really enjoy this author, and I am hella intrigued by that blurb!

Verdict: Stays

The Second Life of Magnolia Mae by Angela Schroeder — Eh.

Verdict: Goes

Even the Moon Has Scars by Steph Campbell — Oh, I’m keeping this! And no, not just because I have intense cover love.

Verdict: Stays

Hidden Worlds anthology by Various Authors — One of those if I’d read it when I first got it, maybe I would have been more interested. But nothing really jumped out at me as “need”, especially when they’re all series to invest in.

Verdict: Goes

Four Seconds to Lose (Ten Tiny Breaths #3) by K.A. Tucker — I absolutely LOVED the first book way back when, and this one sounds equally intriguing.

Verdict: Stays
