Down the TBR Hole — May 20th, 2022

Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1578 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

November 9 by Colleen Hoover — Oh who am I kidding, I’m likely not getting rid of any CoHo at the moment…at least until I read her again and see if I still connect (which I probably will).

Verdict: Stays

Shadows on Snow (Flipped Fairy Tales #1) by Starla Huchton — I’ve only read book 3, but I really loved it and always wanted to read them from the start. They’re mostly standalones, just with some connectedness I think. So that’s 3 for stay (books 1, 2, and 4).

Verdict: Stays

Grayson’s Vow (Sign of Love) by Mia Sheridan — So I took all this time reading the blurb, a few reviews of varying stars, and finally thought I might let it go…and then I realized I got the whispersync audio. And it was only $1.99, but for some reason I have a harder time getting rid of things I’ve paid twice for. And since I was already waffling, I’ll keep it this round. Don’t judge me. 😛

Verdict: Stays

Anywhere by Jen Meyers — Well shit, I saw a review claim the hero is a beta, sensitive, and no mentioned “rock hard abs” and I’m dibs in!

Verdict: Stays

Stay (Blackcreek #2) by Riley Hart — Apparently I’m not in a ruthless mood today, because I’mma keep this one too.

Verdict: Stays

Awaken (Brightest Kind of Darkness #5) by P.T. Michelle — Since I waited FOREVER for this last book, you bet your ass I’m eventually going to go back, reread, and finish it.

Verdict: Stays

Love in the Light (Hearts in Darkness #2) by Laura Kaye — It’s been a LONG time since I read book 1, but I apparently really loved it…so I’m keeping this for now.

Verdict: Stays

A Season for Hope (Fairhope #2.5) by Sarra Cannon — Wow! I think I finally hit something I’m going to let go of! Apparently I enjoyed book 1, was mixed on book 2, and I honestly don’t remember it all, so I’m willing to let the rest of the series go — which means 3 to go (because I had a boxed set).

Verdict: Goes

Curl Up With a Cowboy by Various Authors — Still interested in at least a few of these…I should pull it out this year for my #BookishRes challenge to read more anthologies.

Verdict: Stays

Dangerous (The Finn Factor #3) by R.G. Alexander — Hmmm…apparently it’s better if I read book 2 first, but I don’t have book 2. But I really enjoyed book 1. Fuck, I’ll keep it for now. Apparently this is not my most productive purging week.

Verdict: Stays
