Down the TBR Hole — October 28th, 2022

Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1513 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Fated (Fate of Love #1) by A.J. Brooks — I am torn on this one. This is a book by a friend whose writing I really like (and another author), but it’s also no longer available and I don’t know if it’s a complete story or not. I’ll keep it for now and take a chance.

Verdict: Stays

Being Brooke (Barley Cross #1) by Emma Hart — I’m 100% the kind of girl who can’t handle second hand embarrassment…and judging by the reviews I read, I think this wouldn’t be my bag. I have 2 other books by this author, and I think I’d rather try one of those instead.

Verdict: Goes

Adorkable by Cookie O’Gorman — Don’t even need to read the blurb, it stays!

Verdict: Stays

Snow Angel (Hope Falls #5) by Melanie Shawn — Now titled Forever and Always (Hope Falls: Maguire Family #1). Apparently I’m feeling generous…I enjoy a good small town contemp romance, so we’ll keep for now.

Verdict: Stays

It’s a Mall World After All by Janette Rallison — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

This is Indie: Winter 2017 by Various Authors — Definitely goes.

Verdict: Goes

Bad Romeo (Starcrossed #1) by Leisa Rayven — I’ve always wanted to read this series, and so it stays (4 books total including the Christmas one).

Verdict: Stays

The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick — Definitely stays.

Verdict: Stays

Rule (Marked Men #1) by Jay Crownover — It’s too iconic not to at least try.

Verdict: Stays

Speak No Evil (Brotherhood Trilogy #2) by Jordan Ford — I beta read this one, so just need to reread and review…same goes for the final book, so both obviously stay.

Verdict: Stays

  1. Did you write this post for me? I feel like you did. Lol. I liked Being Brooke, but some of her others are better for sure. Adorkable was so good and I loved it. I also have loved many of her others books. I loved Rule, but I also think some of Crownover’s books are better than other. There are a couple in that series that were even better. Also enjoyed Boy Most Likely Too. I want to read Bad Romeo, too. Great post!
