Down the TBR Hole — November 18th, 2022

Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1500 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Alex (Cold Fury #1) by Sawyer Bennett — I’ve enjoyed the books I’ve read in this series, so I’ll be keeping the others that I own — 5 in total.

Verdict: Stays

Phase (Phoebe Reede: The Untold Story #1) by Michelle Irwin — I think I only got this because it was a friend of a friend…I’m not interested enough.

Verdict: Goes

Her Secret Prince (Royal Holidays #2; Rags to Riches #2) by Madeline Ash — I really enjoyed one of the books in the Rags to Riches series, so I’mma keep the rest in that series as well (3 books).

Verdict: Stays

Amour Amour (Circus is Family #1) by Krista & Becca Ritchie — Now titled The Failed Audition. I’m just not feeling this one…at least for my tastes.

Verdict: Goes

The Debt (The McGregor Brothers #5) by Karina Halle — I’m just not feeling this one.

Verdict: Goes

Beaus & Arrows by Various Authors — I got this for Rebecca Yarros’s story, but I’m just not interested in another set of short stories…

Verdict: Goes

Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway — I’m a bit torn on this one, but inevitably I am super curious.

Verdict: Stays

Mad About Matt (Red Maple Falls #1) by Theresa Paolo — Keeping 9 in this series.

Verdict: Stays

Taboo For You (Love and Family #1) by Anyta Sunday — Now titled There For You. I’ve enjoyed Ms. Sunday’s GFY books in the past, but I think I’m going to stick with the series I already have.

Verdict: Goes

Keeping Mr. Right Now (Kisses in the Sand #1) by Robin Bielman — I enjoy these cute little books by this author, so I’m keeping all 3 in the series.

Verdict: Stays
