Down the TBR Hole — November 25th, 2022

Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1493 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

Objects in Mirror (Stonegate #1) by Tudor Robins — Definitely keep, as well as books 2 and 3.

Verdict: Stays

Undecided (Burnham College #1) by Julianna Keyes — I enjoy this author, so this one is definitely staying.

Verdict: Stays

Tempered Hearts (Hearts of Valentia #1) by S.A. Huchton — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Rather Be (Songbird #10) by Melissa Pearl — Rewritten and now published in a “clean” format as My Heart & Soul (Lyrics of Love #11) by Melody Sweet. This is another one of those beta reads that I need to reread and review, so definitely stays…as well as the 3 chaos novellas I haven’t reviewed yet.

Verdict: Stays

Drunk in Love by Various Authors — I’m more particular in my anthologies now, so this one goes.

Verdict: Goes

Desperately Seeking Epic by B.N. Toler — Well fuck, that blurb sucked me in….

Verdict: Stays

Altercation (Playmaker Duet #1, Prescott Family #2) by Mignon Mykel — Now the duet is in 1 book titled The Playmaker. I got this duet based on Deanna from A Novel Glimpse‘s reviews…and while I’m waffling about them because I never find myself reaching for them, I’m going to keep them for now (that’s 4 for stay)

Verdict: Stays

Openly Straight (Openly Straight #1) by Bill Konigsberg — Oh, it stays.

Verdict: Stays

Love Happens by Various Authors — Again, I’m mostly only interested in one of these stories, and not enough….

Verdict: Goes

Unspoken (Woodlands #2) by Jen Frederick — Yup, I’m intrigued.

Verdict: Stays

  1. Undecided is probably my favorite by Julianna Keyes. I’m pretty sure I dumped Desperately Seeking Eric. I don’t remember why. Don’t feel like you have to keep Playmaker simply because I enjoyed it at the time. I still think it’s a good series. That duet was a little more emotional, I think. I loved that Woodlands series by Jen Frederick.

    • I think I want to at least try a book by Mignon Mykel before ditching them, you know?

My fave from Julianna Keyes is Bad Princess, and given it’s Christmas, I should totes reread it…
