Blurb:

From Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Devney Perry comes a small town, sports romance.

Crew Madigan is a snowboarding legend. He’s gorgeous, rich, famous and every woman’s dream. Well, except mine. I’ll take a nerdy guy with a clumsy streak who wouldn’t know what to do with a pair of skis to save his life. Superstar athletes? No, thanks. World champions? Hard pass. Crew? Definitely not.

It’s been over a decade since Crew set foot on Madigan Mountain. Instead of sitting with his family during his brother’s wedding, he takes the chair beside mine. ESPN really doesn’t do that chiseled jaw justice. The cameras miss the flecks of gold in his eyes. When he invites me to his hotel room after the wedding, I break all of my own rules for just one night.

But here’s the problem with just one night. Crew is impossible to forget. And he’s not the only one who loves a thrill. The crash, the broken bones, are inevitable. Because together, we’re a little too wild.

My Review:

4 stars — This one was probably 4.5 stars for quite a bit of it, but the ending kind of hit me pretty suddenly.  I don’t know if it’s actually worth the half star loss, but it just felt like I was expecting something more.  I did get a great epilogue, don’t get me wrong, but that pacing just hit me weird, so there you go.

Crew was a lot softer and more vulnerable than I was expecting — this was a good thing for me.  He was a bit of a teddy bear with his crush on Raven.  I also appreciated all of his reactions and emotions wrt his family, how that played out in the end.  Basically I could connect with him more than the other 2 brothers in his journey of healing I guess.  I also really loved that he wasn’t overly cocky, even though he was an exceptional athlete.  It was something he loved, but he remained humble and determined at the same time.

I thought Raven was going to be a hardass, but she was actually a pretty big softie underneath it all.  She had a wall around her heart, but not without cause.  Her clinging onto the idea of a fling went a bit long for me, but I think she was trying to convince herself more than anyone else.

What I really love about books by Ms. Perry is that we actually get solid couple time with them.  This one blasted into the steamy atmosphere pretty quickly, and so the whole relationship felt a bit backwards at times — like they got the steamy chemistry right from the start, but built the friendship chemistry more over time.  I really felt their emotional connection, and how they saw one another as someone they could confide in.  It really gave the romance depth.

I will admit that I missed the girls nights in this one, they were a highlight in the previous books.  We got brother time, which was actually kind of awesome, but I missed seeing Raven get support from her girls.  She kept them on the other side of the wall, and I kind of wish we’d seen something about that in the story.

River was a dick, but I appreciated that he didn’t miraculously change — it felt more realistic.

All in all, this was a solid book that gave me a lot of smiles, and the whole trilogy was great from start to finish.
