Blurb:

Violet Savoie has a plan. A dream, rather. To open her own tattoo shop, which caters to supernaturals in need of permanent charms. As a powerful Seer, she has the potent magic to cast every kind of spell. Except the kind to give werewolves control over their beastly side. And her business partner Nico needs help in the worst kind of way.

Nico Cruz has a secret. A motive, rather. To subtly stalk and seduce Violet until she finally recognizes they are fated to be together. Ever since their heated encounter in Austin on New Year’s Eve two years earlier, he’s been dying to get his hands—and his tongue—back on her body. He knows a woman like Violet can’t be courted in the usual way. Luckily, Nico has no scruples about misbehaving to get what he wants.

But when his former pack roams into town, and an old friend is far too interested in Violet, his focus shifts to the threat venturing into his territory. Nico may come across as the quiet, broody one, but the intruders are about to regret stepping foot in New Orleans. And when Violet goes missing, no charm or spell can keep Nico’s wolf at bay.

My Review:

4.5 stars — I actually was a bit wary of this book and Violet and Nico’s love story, but after reading it I have decided that all my trust shall be placed in this author!

In the previous two books, these characters have such a contentious relationship, and I wasn’t sure what the past was behind it and if I’d be satisfied by it.  I started this book, and was almost immediately hit with some explanations.  Not only that, just getting to know who Violet was, what made her tick, what made her behave the way she did, sold me on it.  She’s definitely the firecracker she’s made out to be, but I love that her love em and leave em modus operandi had a bit of an explanation behind it.  And even without the explanation, she was a very sex positive role model — she may have been waiting for “the one” for a relationship, but saw nothing wrong in enjoying herself along the way as long as she didn’t break any hearts.  While this may not work for everyone (me included), I appreciate seeing a wider variety of confident female characters who are not shamed about sex.  Representation, even if these ways, is really important.

I loved that Violet was passionate about so many things.  When she found something (or someone) to love, she went in with her whole heart.  You could see this in her new tattoo shop, as well as her fight once she started truly understanding the werewolf issue as a whole in the supernatural world.  And obviously you also saw this in her relationship with Nico.  There was a huge roadblock to that relationship, but once she figured out her way around that, she didn’t hold herself back.

Nico was so patient and understanding, I loved the way he supported Violet and tried to let her come to him.  I also ached for everything he had gone through in his life, his loneliness, and how he was navigating his way through changes in the present.

Their chemistry was just off the charts, right from the start.  I kind of loved that we got that spike of steam, but then had to go back and build the trust.  It worked for the two of them.

I had an inkling what the conflict would be, though I doubted myself along the way, and I’m really happy with the way that it went.

I’m more and more excited about the world, and sad there are only 6 sisters because I love them so much.  I’m also devastated that Clara’s book is last, since I have been in love with her since book 1.

I’m so glad I looked into this series and moved it up my queue, it’s just been so fun and satisfying.
