Blurb:

A pirate doesn't ask for permission - he takes.

When I see the delicate human female collared and enslaved by the smuggler I'm about to swindle, I do what any male would do. I take her from him. It's what I do best, after all.

Now Fran's mine, and I'm never giving her up. On board my spaceship, she'll be safe. She'll wear my clothes, eat my food, and sleep in my bed. I'll keep her safe from a galaxy that wishes her harm. But my sweet Fran wants nothing more than to return to Earth. How can I take her home when she holds my heart in her dainty, five-fingered hands?

My Review:

3.5 stars — I thought I would give another series by Ms. Dixon a try, and while this definitely went better than my foray into fireblood dragons, it still didn’t quite hit the mark like the IPB series and spinoffs for me.  At least this one had better pacing and tempo.

The narrators were solid, same ones as IPB and they do a good job.

Fran was nicely sassy, and it was interesting to hear about her experiences.  Everything happened pretty fast, and I probably didn’t connect with her as much just because she seemed to navigate the craziness fairly well without breakdowns…seemed a bit unlikely, but what do I know?

Kivian was kind of fun and different, with his saucy nature and his flair with piracy (ie duping idiots).  I enjoyed that for sure.

They were okay together…it’s kind of a hard path to navigate, where one party instinctively sees a mate, while the other is getting over a brief stint in sexual slavery, so…yeah…  I don’t know.  It was okay, just didn’t wow me with the connection, you know?  There were some great parts where I felt more, they just came a little late for me.

I might check out other books in this series, but I don’t really feel compelled.  It was good, but I just didn’t get hooked the way I was hoping to.
