Blurb:

"Oh my god. Who is that?"I get asked this question a lot."Oh him?" I reply. "That's just Ian."

Just Ian is the biggest understatement of the century.Just the Mona Lisa. Just the Taj Mahal. Just Ian, with his boring ol' washboard abs and dime-a-dozen dimpled smile.

Just Ian is... just my best friend.

We're extremely close, stuck so deep inside a Jim-and-Pam-style friendzone everyone at works assumes we're a couple - that is until one day, word spreads through the teacher's lounge that he's single. Fair game. Suddenly, it's open season on Ian.

He should be reveling in all the newfound attention, but to our mutual surprise, the only attention he seems to want is mine.

He's turning our formerly innocent nightly chats into x-rated phone calls. Our playful banter sports a new, dangerous edge.

I want to assume he's playing a prank on me, just pushing my buttons like always - but when Ian lifts me onto the desk in my classroom and slides his hands up my skirt, he doesn't leave a lot of room for confusion.

I'm a little scared of things going south, of losing my best friend because I can't keep my hands to myself. So, I'm just going to back away and not return this earth-shattering kiss - oh who am I kidding?!

Goodbye Ian, ol' buddy, ol' pal!

Helloooo mister not so nice guy.

My Review:

The romance was decent.  I liked the phone sex part even if it escalated way too soon after they started seeing each other. Oh wait, they hadn’t even agreed to start dating when that happened.  There was a lot of horse before the carriage in this book now that I think about it.

Now, to be fair they were best friends for years before things got physical so I guess a little fastness in that department isn’t too far of a stretch.  I am of the mind when friends become more than friends it takes longer for them to get to that part of the relationship, but what do I know?

Anyway, it was funny when the work staff found out Sam and Ian weren’t dating and the chase for newly single Ian began.  It was the highlight of the book for me.  Comedy ensues as female after female attempt to catch Ian’s eye when all he is really doing is staring at Sam.  I like Ian, he was down to earth and very accommodating to Sam’s neurotic-ness.  The problem I had was entirely with Sam.

She was so doomsday about their whole relationship, and while I do get it. It was made into a a Mt Everest type of deal when it was really more of a Sierra Rockies kind of problem.  Eventually it seemed like he was trying to convince her constantly to date him.  IDK, it came off as a too needy for me.  And she didn’t evolve in the story. She showed the same resistance to dating him from beginning to end, and I really hate that.

  1. I like your mountain comparisons! That’s a great way to describe things. I haven’t read this one yet. It’s on my someday list. I hope the neediness doesn’t bug me. Otherwise, it sounds kind of cute. Great review!
