Blurb:

I knew something was wrong the second she walked in the door tonight; I just couldn't put my finger on what it was.

Same hair color. Same legs. Same face.

Except...I look harder.

At the small dimple beneath her lip that wasn't there the last time we went out. And her laugh - that laugh isn't as loud.

This isn't the girl I've gone out with the past few weeks. It's her twin sister, and they've switched places on me.

Only I'm not quite ready to let them switch back.

My Review:

4 stars — I was a bit worried about this one, b/c the premise is not usually something I can tolerate.  I’m not big on lying/deceiving, and I worried this scenario would feel like cheating.  But honestly?  It wasn’t too bad.  Lucy and Dante had only been on, like, 2 dates, so it wasn’t like they were a couple…

In general, I really liked both Amelia and Dante.  I wasn’t thrilled with the way she let her twin manipulate her, but I appreciated that she tried to stick to a moral compass in such an immoral situation.  She also felt a bit lonely to me, for some reason.  Dante was a pretty solid guy himself, though I think the good guy vibe we’re told of him isn’t…quite all there is to that.  He didn’t quite pull it off, you know?  He had these moments of judgeyness that just detracted from his likability a bit.  Or maybe not judgey?  Maybe just jerkishness?  Something.

The thing that really set this one apart for me was the chemistry between Amelia and Dante.  It was funny to watch Dante be so confused, since he noticed differences about her, but he was also drawn to her in a way he hadn’t been in the previous dates…you know, because she’s a different girl.  I truly did feel like they connected, on both a physical and mental/emotional level.

As for the narrators?  I enjoy both Mr. Morgan and Ms. Mallon!  I’m not always fond of Mr. Morgan’s female voice, but that’s just me.  And I had a hard time when Ms. Mallon was narrating dialogue between the twins, b/c she didn’t differentiate her voice.  But her male voice is SWOON.  And she captured Amelia’s vulnerability really well.

All in all, this was fun!  I needed this little shorty, b/c I’ve been DNFing books, and I just wanted something to hit with me.  Looking forward to checking out more in this series!

COYER Summer Hunt: Read a book with more than 125 pages and less than 215 pages in physical format — 2 points.
