Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is all Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem‘s fault.  She started doing this, and I couldn’t help but look at my Kindle, and all the titles that I don’t even remember what they’re about, and I just figured maybe I should start the CLEANSE.  It’s about the only CLEANSE you’ll see me participate in.  I’m going to be focussing entirely on my Kindle book problem at the moment, since it’s the craziest (and it’s what features most prominently in my Goodreads TBR).  And I’ve decided if a book goes, then I’m deleting it from my Kindle cloud library too — GONE!  Poof!  JUST DO IT!  My internal hoarder is screaming right now.

ETA: OK, if I’m truly waffling over one of them, I’m giving you all like a couple days to convince me otherwise before I delete them. So speak now! (This is your fault Ashley)

As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 1667 books on it.  No, that’s not a typo.  You see why this meme might be good for me.  I’ve also decided that if I get rid of the first book in a series, and I have other books in that series, I’m going to get rid of them at the same time instead of waiting until they show up.

ARV-3 (The After Light Saga #1) by Cameo Renae — I know a lot of people who really enjoyed this series, but I think that’s the only reason I got it. And I think there are other dystopian series I’m more interested in, so it goes.

Verdict: Goes

Playing with Fire by Various Authors — I read one of the books, Fierce, and it wasn’t for me. And none of the others really call my name…

Verdict: Goes

The Faerie Guardian (Creepy Hollow #1) by Rachel Morgan — My former blog co-pilot, Curly Carla, really enjoyed this series…and since I have the box set of it, I’m gonna keep it for now and give it a try (which means 10 for staying).

Verdict: Stays

Bound to Night (Sisters of the Moon #1) by Nina Croft — Meh.

Verdict: Goes

Trixie and Me (Galactic Exploration #2) by Peter Cawdron — I will admit, I was more curious than I expected to be. But I’m still letting it go.

Verdict: Goes

After the Cure (After the Cure #1) by Deirdre Gould — Whew, I got bored just reading the blurb…so probably not for me.

Verdict: Goes

Who I Kissed by Janet Gurtler — Huh, I thought this one would be a keeper…and while it’s an intriguing premise, I’m not, like, wowed. So ruthless Lenore strikes again.

Verdict: Goes

Untied by Various Authors — I always have this anthology on my list for author events, and I *never* get to it. I think I’ll listen to my subconscious and just let it go.

Verdict: Goes

Bad Company (Bad in Baltimore #1) by K.A. Mitchell — Doesn’t seem to be available anymore, so no sense getting invested.

Verdict: Goes

The Morbid and Sultry Tales of Genevieve Clare by J.B. Hartnett — Yeah, no.

Verdict: Goes
