Blurb:

Ana couldn't believe her luck when irresistibly sexy Sebastian Rentoul proposed. He made her feel less like a gangly, awkward beanpole and more like a stunning, desirable supermodel. Until she realized that being Mrs. Rentoul didn't mean she had her husband's love....

Now Ana has issued divorce papers and is getting on with her life. But Seb, fascinated more than ever by his reluctant bride, decides to make sure she fully understands how much pleasure she'll be missing....

My Review:

2.5 stars — I still can’t decide whether to round up or down.  The problem is I was SOOOO bored at the end, that I kind of forget what I enjoyed at the beginning to keep me reading…

Seriously though, I do judge Harlequins differently, b/c I know they just have a different mandate than the caboodles of romance books I read now.  I just also realize I want more, and it’s hard to settle for less.

I guarantee I was attracted to this book by the blurb mentioning a tall heroine.  But the thing is, how I connected with a tall heroine in 2010 is different from now, and so now I just kind of got annoyed at Ana’s lack of growth (*snort*) in accepting herself and believing she’s beautiful just as she is.  I totally get all the hang ups she initially has about her height, I felt them too for so long.  But after awhile it’s like, are you going to grow or not?  Also, side note, a part of me is eminently annoyed when they always fall in love with a hero that’s taller than them.  Like, sure, that’s one solution…or, you know, open your mind.

As far as them together, I know that Harlequins are very heavily lust based, but this one stood out for me a lot.  Like, give me some other connection other than physical/sexual attraction, give it to me earlier, and maybe expand on it more.  Again, I’m just not the same reader I used to be.

Other than all that, it felt like all of their issues were just repeated over and over again, with little change, so that when we get to the end it was like “well, what was different all of a sudden?”  He talked to his Mom??  That was it?  Meh.

Basically Lenore is cranky because Lenore should have just DNF’d it.  Definitely time to take a break from these for a bit.
