Here are the year-long Reading Challenges I’m participating in for 2024!!  I will track my progress on this page as well.  For more information on any of the challenges, go to the sign up pages.

I actually did better than most of these goals last year, but I anticipate not having as big a reading year this year since I discovered phone games, so I’m trying to be both reasonable and challenging with my goals so I don’t stress myself out and take the fun out of it.  <3

The 2024 Finishing the Series Reading Challenge is hosted by Celebrity Readers, ie us!  #FinishingTheSeries2024

The 2024 Diversity Reading Challenge is hosted by Celebrity Readers, ie us!  #DiversityRC2024

The main goal for the challenge is to read as many diverse books as possible, and I’m setting my goal for 36 diverse reads.  There’s also a mini-challenge with the following monthly themes:

JANUARY – diverse folktales/culture/mythology; or diverse retelling; or non-western setting
FEBRUARY – poc: Black/African American
MARCH – #ownvoices; or gender: female authors in male-dominated genres/non-fiction
APRIL – poc: Middle Eastern/South Asian
MAY – poc: East Asian/Southeast Asian/Pacific Islander
JUNE – LGBT+ pride summer: sexuality and gender identity
JULY – LGBT+ pride summer: sexuality and gender identity

The 2024 Backlist Reader Challenge is hosted by Lark @ The Bookwyrm’s Hoard. #BacklistReader

There are no levels to this challenge, you just set your reading goal.  All books must be released prior to 2023, and must already be on your TBR List (I loved that this challenge was for a year older books, as well as restrictions on what books can count).  You don’t have to own the book before this challenge starts, but you have to have recorded somewhere that you wanted to read it — this can mean wishlists or for me I’ll be counting tags in my library apps.  My goal is 42 books (the answer to life, the universe, and everything)!  I’ll likely not be counting DNF’s, especially if I DNF prior to 50%.

COYER Unwind 2024 is hosted by Berls and Michelle @ Because Reading Is Better Than Real Life, Stephanie @ Once Upon a Chapter and Lillian @ Mom With a Reading Problem.  #COYER

COYER stands for Clean Out Your E-Reads, and was initially about reading free (or nearly free) e-books and writing reviews for them.

This year COYER is separated into two different sections: COYER Unwind and COYER Community.  COYER Unwind is more like the original (and will be split into 4 chapters, each with different twists); whereas COYER Community emphasizes activities that have a community aspect.

COYER Unwind

Chapter 1: Winter Rules — January to March

1. Every book you read MUST be in an electronic format – meaning eBook or Audiobook. It’s okay to start a book before January 1st, you must be less than half way for it to count then review it during COYER.
2. The books must be FREE or NEARLY FREE! This includes review books, tour books, NetGalley, Edelweiss, etc. What’s nearly free? No more than $5 for eBooks and no more than $7.50 for Audiobooks (or the equivalent in your currency). Library books, borrowed books, or Kindle Unlimited, Amazon Prime books, and Audible Plus Catalog books do not qualify.

This year there is a mini challenge for June, which is Audiobook Month.  Looks like there will be challenges associated with finishing an audio series (3 audiobooks), tackling audiobooks from your TBR pile, or listening to 3 audiobooks from your library.  I will definitely be looking for more info in May!
